About the Workshop
In 3 hours, participants will explore those moments in improv where the language barrier and pop culture references have acted as barriers to creating meaningful connections in scenework. From there, they will add to their toolkit some techniques that help navigate this, freeing them to focus on what matters: the universal building of bridges in a multi-cultural space.

Participant Experience
Participants simply need to know the absolute basics: active listening, world-building, and an open mindedness to return to these basics in order to navigate the main theme of acquiring universal expressions to establish connection despite multiple languages.

About Your Teacher
Since 2022 Sekki has been regularly teaching improv in North Wales for my social enterprise, Stand Tall Improv CIC, running weekly sessions for children aged 11 to 16.

She also utilises improv to run English Culture/Language classes for refugees, ranging from the functionally illiterate to those who require more advanced English lessons‚ by creating immersive environments that facilitate kinaesthetic learning of a target language. Her technique is largely influenced by Viola Spolin and Keith Johnstone. Her approach is one where the improv activities serve a greater purpose that encourage integration, acceptance and the courage to nurture a group's collective confidence in a new community.
